Pizza Express finally opened in SM Megamall! It’s located at the third floor of the Mega Fashion Hall. Pizza Express is a UK-based pizza chain that has gone international.
I’ve been waiting for them to open somewhere more accessible to me, and I’m glad that they’re finally here! Their first two branches are in Uptown Mall in BGC and in SM North Edsa.
I was able to try their pizzas before and they were really good. The pizza crust is thin but not dry, the edges are crispy, and the combination of flavors are definitely appetizing! The ratio of the toppings in relation to the crust has the right balance, in my opinion. Would I like more toppings? Yes, of course, but I think that would make the pizzas too salty (or whatever flavor it is) because the crust is thin. But I prefer thin crust pizzas because the flavor of the toppings stand out more. The downside is that I have to eat more pizza before I am full, but who’s complaining? 😀

PIZZA EXPRESS MEGAMALL
I like the interiors at Pizza Express Megamall better than Uptown’s. It’s brighter and just feels more cozy and inviting.

THE FOOD
The MUST ORDER item, aside from pizzas, at Pizza Express, has got to be their Truffled Parmesan & Mushroom Dip (P285). It has a bowl of delectable truffle cream, and includes soft, pillow-y dough balls to dunk in said truffle cream.
For the pizzas, I liked the Campana (P510) because I like fennel. This is a fennel sausage and kale pizza.
The Calabrese (P655) is also a favorite for meat-lovers, with sausage, roasted peppers AND fresh buffalo mozzarella. This is a bit spicy owing to the jalapeno. Just remove the jalapeno pieces if you want to avoid the heat.
Another pizza which I will be ordering on our next visits is the Liguria (P490), which is a seafood pizza.
I also love the sweet and hoisin-y Peking Duck pizza, but I’m not sure if it’s still available since it was only available for a limited time.
All the pizza crusts were thin (except for the Beef Rendang pizza), and the crusts were somehow better than Uptown’s! We were told that the oven at the Megamall branch uses a different kind of oven than Uptown’s.
SUMMARY
Pizza Express’s pizzas are really good and even better when you can get them on 1+1 with Zomato Gold!
I like that their pizzas are more premium than the pedestrian Pepperoni and Hawaiian pizzas offered by other pizza chains. Pizza Express actually uses ingredients like fresh buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, real Italian sausages, etc… and price-wise, especially when using Zomato Gold, the price actually becomes amazingly reasonable. We were able to order 2 pizzas and an appetizer for only about P1,000+ including service charge!
I don’t know how long Pizza Express will be on Zomato Gold, but take advantage of it to try their delicious pizzas!!!
