New Dishes at King Chef – Must Try the Phoenix Ball Cocktail Salad!

Spread the Love!

King Chef SM Cherry

Last week, we tried the latest creations from the King Chef team. The King Chef branch at SM Cherry had all the usual precautions – temp checks upon entry, social distancing screens, etc…

I like how King Chef regularly updates their menu with new dishes – this way, there’s always something new to try if you ever get bored with your old favorites 🙂

These dishes will only be available for a limited time (Feb. 1 to April 30, 2021), available for DINE-IN, TAKE-OUT OR DELIVERY, so catch them before they’re gone!

We started with some dimsum:

Crispy Fish Dumplings (P170 for 3pcs, P105 promo price)

Fried Seafood Dumplings (P200 for 10pcs, P135 promo price)

I liked these 🙂

Century Seaweed Rolls (P160 for 4pcs, P100 promo price)

I love the addition of little bits of century egg to Japanese siomai – it just adds an extra flavor element to the rolls.

Mushroom and Shallot Meatballs (P160 for 3pcs, P100 promo price)

For mains:

Beef Tenderloin in Black Pepper Sauce (P780, good for 3-4 persons)

The beef was really tender, as expected. This can be senior-friendly if they don’t mind the black pepper sauce.

Shrimp with Bacon Rolls (P880 for 6 pcs)

This was interesting. But anything with bacon is ❤ hahaha. This is a shrimp roll wrapped in bacon, and covered with like a cocktail sauce.

Wok-Fried Chicken in Honey Soy Sauce (P360, good for 3-4 persons)

This was also actually quite nice, but tends to be overshadowed by the more flamboyant dishes since the flavor is milder. Order this if you love the chicken peanut combo, which I do 🙂

Phoenix Ball Cocktail Salad (P640 for 4 servings, P170 for every additional serving)

This was the highlight of the meal. Aren’t they pretty? Don’t they look like they belong in a 5-star hotel setting? The Phoenix Balls are filled with melted cheese, and covered with some sort of thinly-sliced fried dough to look like phoenix feathers. Then, at the bottom of the glass is some cocktail salad (sweet mayo fruit cocktail mix) that we all generally call “hot salad”.

This is the showstopper dish to order 🙂

For dessert:

Valentine’s BOO-chi ❤ – available only from Feb. 1 to 28, 2021.

King Chef’s Valentine Buchi is filled with Belgian chocolate. Not just one, but TWO kinds of chocolate! The buchi with the orange sesame seeds are filled with BELGIAN WHITE CHOCOLATE, while the buchi with the black sesame seeds are filled with BELGIAN MILK CHOCOLATE.

I must say, I love these more than the usual monggo fillings. Don’t miss these! The chocolate fillings are thick, creamy and sweet. We will definitely be ordering some for Chinese New Year. I like both chocolate fillings, but if I had to choose, I like the white chocolate more.
