There is a trending sandwich and its name is the Inkigayo Sandwich.
When even Buzzfeed is making videos on this sandwich, you know the hype is real 🙂
Earlier this week, I was at the media preview of the official SBS Inkigayo Sandwich that will soon be available in Metro Manila!
What is the Inkigayo Sandwich and why is it famous?
The Inkigayo Sandwich is a sandwich that is sold at the SBS Studio’s cafeteria. SBS hosts a music show called Inkigayo, and many of the K-pop idols who participated in this show ended up eating this sandwich to assuage their hunger while waiting to go on stage. The sandwich soon became a favorite of many K-pop idols, showing up on various social media posts, and even becoming a means of slipping one’s phone number to someone one is interested in.
What’s in the Inkigayo Sandwich?
The sandwich has an egg & crab mayo filling, coleslaw, and a layer of strawberry jam in the middle.
I was able to try a few of these sandwiches and I really liked it! I like the sweet & savory combo, although I understand how some people might find it weird.
The bread was soft and fluffy, the filling was generous. It is priced at P129 and I feel that it’s a fair price, considering the generous filling (lots of crabsticks!) 🙂
I know some people are going to say, “it’s just a sandwich, I can make it myself at home”. Yes, you definitely can! I can, too! But I’m too lazy to do it 😀 I don’t want to have to make a crab & egg salad, and then also make coleslaw, all just to make one sandwich. I’ll just buy the sandwich 😀
You have to try it at least once, it’s pretty good 🙂 Although I have a feeling it won’t be just one sandwich for me. I think I can eat 2 sandwiches for lunch 🙂
Where to get the Inkigayo Sandwich?
For now, the SBS Inkigayo Sandwich will only be available through pop-ups and food trucks. They don’t have a permanent location yet.
They will be at Robinsons Place Ermita starting June 24 (Monday) until July 7, 2019!
