Gourmet Farms Tagaytay Signage

We visited Gourmet Farms in Tagaytay last week.

Gourmet Farms was one of the must-visit destinations in Tagaytay decades ago, before Tagaytay became overpopulated with commercial establishments. They were known for their coffee, their pasalubong products (dips, dressings, etc…), and their fresh produce.

They offered free farm tours (they still do!).

GOURMET’S CAFE AND COUNTRY STORE

It was a rainy week so I wasn’t able to take photos of the outside of the cafe, but it’s the first structure you see when you arrive at Gourmet Farms ๐Ÿ™‚

They have a small dining area where you can enjoy some coffee and sweets. Shelves line the rest of the walls, showcasing Gourmet Farm’s pasalubong products.

We were able to try some of their dips, dressings and sauces. My favorites are the Sicilian and the Roman Garlic.

They also have some lettuce chips (P80.00/pack) which use lettuce grown on the farm ๐Ÿ™‚ The lettuce chips make a good chip for the dips!

Gourmet Farms knows coffee. They even create special blends for clients like hotels and restaurants. They have hundreds of blends on file, and they can recreate popular blends or customize blends for big orders.

NEW DRIP-ON COFFEE

Gourmet Farms is primarily a coffee trader, and they are all about the fresh brew. But the market right now is being overrun by convenient 3-in-1’s that use the lowest quality coffee beans.

Gourmet Farms wants to provide coffee lovers who need the caffeine AND the convenience of instant coffee with a better alternative. They are launching a new drip-on coffee product. I’ve seen something like this before, but not with these many varieties.

The drip-on coffees are packed in individually sealed packets. To use, you pull out the “wings” and hang them on the edge of your coffee mug. Then you tear off the perforated top of the filter bag and pour hot water over the coffee grounds.

With the Drip-On Coffee, you can have good coffee anywhere, as long as you have hot water and a cup.

Pricing: P28.00 per packet ; P280.00 for a box (10 packets inside).

THE DINING ROOM

We had lunch at The Dining Room, a fairly new addition to the farm. It is just a few years old.

The Dining Room offers Italian / Mediterranean dishes a la carte, but also has a buffet-style set up where diners can enjoy the freshest greens – lettuce, kale and other vegetables picked just that morning!

COFFEE & FARM TOUR

Gourmet Farms is now a 12-hectare farm. I remember from an old tour years ago that it was just 7-hectares then.

We saw rows upon rows of lettuce, kale and other leafy greens in different stages of growth on the rolling hills.

Gourmet Farms also added a chapel sanctuary, conference rooms, and guest houses. We were told that the sanctuary is becoming popular with couples as a venue for their pre-nuptial photos.

Gourmet Farms Ducks

Gourmet Farms is an organic farm. These cute goats are their natural weed killers ๐Ÿ™‚

Next we visited the production area where Gourmet Farms’ products are produced by hand.

Gourmet Farms Cookies

We also saw their stores of coffee beans and their roasters.

SUMMARY

Even though the skies were dark, we were lucky that it didn’t rain hard during our visit. It was a nice change of pace from hectic Manila life, and I really enjoyed the fresh air!

Gourmet’s Cafe / Gourmet Farms was the pioneer of the farm-to-table dining concept in the country. The first salad bar in the Philippines also originated from Gourmet’s Cafe. You should really take the opportunity to eat really fresh, organic greens!

If you haven’t been to Gourmet Farms, give them a visit! They’re just a short distance before the Tagaytay roundabout (from Silang).

Make sure to bring home some pasalubong to delight friends and family (and yourself, too!) ๐Ÿ™‚
