Updated Converge Internet Review: Change of Modem

Converge Change Modem

We lost internet yesterday. The LOS light on our Converge modem was blinking red. I tried calling the Converge hotline but I gave up, knowing how difficult it was to get through. I just resolved to waiting until Converge fixed the problem on their end.

But, about 2 hour laters, someone from Converge came by. I was shocked. Like, I know I didn’t call the hotline. How did they know that something was wrong?

CONVERGE CHANGE OF MODEM (FREE)

Well, it turns out that the Converge technician was there to replace the modem. I asked him how they knew that something was wrong with the internet. It turns out that Converge was actually replacing all the modems in our area because, according to the technician, Converge was previously using PLDT for their connection, and now Converge has their own thing, so the modem needs to be replaced with one that is compatible with the new Converge thing. Ewan ko ba sa mga ito, bakit parang ayaw nila mag explain ng maayos. Ang sabi niya, dati PLDT yung gamit ng Converge, tapos ngayon may sarili na sila, kaya kailangan palitan yung modem.

The modem replacement was free of charge. The reason that we didn’t have internet for the past couple of hours was that Converge had already disconnected our old connection in preparation for this. Since we have a separate wifi router, all the technician had to do was connect the new router and everything was up and running! Salpak lang, no configuration needed to be done at all. I’m seeing more advantages to having a separate wifi router now. I checked and I was able to browse websites.

The new modem is a Huawei. Here it is:

He replaced the actual modem, the square thing, and the wires.

We’ve only been using the new modem for a day but so far everything seems okay. To read about my original Converge internet review, click here.

  1. “dati PLDT yung gamit ng Converge, tapos ngayon may sarili na sila, kaya kailangan palitan yung modem.”
base sa statement nila, gamit nila yung line ni PLDT before to route your traffic. siguro wala pa silang sariling line na setup sa area nyo and theyre just renting PLDT’s line. for the replacement, siguro ay hindi compatible sa new line nila ang lumang modem. ayun hehe

  2. Our model just got replaced earlier today. Meron po sila announcement sent over SMS, supposedly nung Aug 28 pa gagawin but was moved to today. Our replacement modem is ZTE instead of Huawei. Looks the same as your old modem but the LEDs are in front ?
