Meatsumo Panay Sushi Bake

I saw some of my friends enjoying Meatsumo Premium Panay’s latest offering: the Baked Sushi Cake, and of course, I had to try it, too!

Compared to other sushi cakes, this was only P480! I could probably make this at home, but it’s too much effort to do buy all the ingredients, make the sushi rice, the cheese sauce, etcetera etcetera, so it made more sense to just order it. ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s not worth going through all the trouble just to save myself a few pesos, and this was only P480!

I also ordered Meatsumo Premium Panay’s Samgyupsal Set (P749) for a complete meal.

Ordering was easy. I just filled out the order form, chose my preferred date & time, and waited for a confirmation. Once my order was confirmed, I paid online and sent the screenshot. They messaged me when my order was ready and I went to pick it up. You can also use Grab, Lalamove or Mr. Speedy.

BAKED SUSHI CAKE AND SAMGYUPSAL

I ordered 2 Baked Sushi Cakes. I was supposed to give one to a relative, but we ended up starting on it because *someone was nabitin* hahaha.

The Baked Sushi Cake is the size of a typical cake loaf pan (aluminum). Each cake comes with tenkasu (fried tempura batter bits) and sliced green onions for topping, and 2 packs of seaweed squares.

I sprinkled the tempura bits and the green onions on top:

The bottom layer is sushi rice, then there are cucumbers, mangoes, minced kani, a mayo cheese sauce, and tobiko (the orange fish roe). Basically, if you like California Maki, there’s a good chance that you’ll like this ๐Ÿ™‚

To eat, you get a portion and place it on a seaweed square, and try to make it look IG-worthy before plopping it in your mouth! Hahaha.

Here’s my first attempt, my Baked Sushi slice was too big! ๐Ÿ˜€

I think this is more of a side dish and not something you eat in a meal by itself. So of course, I paired it with samgyupsal!!!

Here’s our Samgyupsal Set:

  • 1 Pork Yakiniku (250g)
  • 1 Beef Bulgogi (250g)
  • Pajeon
  • Kani Salad
  • Crispy Dilis
  • Noodles
  • Sweet Potato Chips
  • Lettuce

It didn’t come with ssamjang, but we had some at home. Besides, the meats were tasty enough ๐Ÿ™‚

We also chopped up some garlic and onions because we like them with our samgyupsal.

Overall, the meal was just the right amount for 5 people. We ate all of the samgyupsal set, and 1 whole Sushi Bake + 1/5 of the second Sushi Bake. The remaining 4/5 Sushi Bake is in the ref, to be eaten tomorrow.

To reheat the Sushi Bake, just bake at 140C for 10-15 minutes.

I liked the Sweet Potato Chips ๐Ÿ™‚ it’s crispy (don’t pour the included sauce) and reminds me of non-commercial banana chips that are not doused in sugar. As I’m writing this, I’m munching on the leftover sweet potato chips, hahaha.

It was a nice, filling meal and everyone was satisfied. I didn’t even get rice, dapat pala hindi na nagsaing. We just ate what was in the Sushi Bake + samsgyupsal set ๐Ÿ™‚
