Summer is here again! The hot season is a great time for road adventures, beach trips, city excursions, or simply getting together with family and friends.

However, the elevated temperatures can really bog down your look, leaving you looking tired and haggard. Fortunately, you do not need to trade in being chic and glamorous just to have fun during the summer months!

Read on for four of our favorite tips for staying stylish during this most fabulous of seasons!

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

The number one tip to staying stylish in all seasons is to be healthy inside and out. It may be an extra challenge to do this during the summer months, when the heat can very easily dry you out. Being dehydrated shows readily on your skin; this is not something that can easily be covered up with makeup. It will also leave you feeling tired and ill, and there is nothing stylish about that at all!

To stay healthy and glowing over the summer, drink more than the 8 daily glasses of water your parents told you to finish each day. Always keep a bottle or canteen of water with you, even when inside an air-conditioned room; the cool dry air from aircons can also dry out your skin! Try to refrain from drinking overly sugary beverages, since these can also leave you more thirsty than when you started out.

Also keep your favorite moisturizer handy. Dry skin is never a good look! Moisturize your skin for that summer glow!

2. Always Remember Your SPF

Another peril to staying out under the summer sun is the dreaded sunburn. Not only is it painful to manage, and even dangerous to your health, but it is terribly difficult to match clothes and accessories to lobster-red skin! Avoid the burn by making it a habit to put on sunscreen before stepping outdoors, even on cloudy days. New sunscreen formulations available in the market are designed to go on lightly as a base for makeup, or as a spray to finish up your beauty routine. Although many sunscreens have a minimum SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 15, fairer or more sensitive skin may require a higher SPF to avoid burning. Look for a sunscreen that suits your skin, and never forget to reapply it every few hours, or right after taking a swim.

3. Experiment with Updos

Keeping your head and neck cool is imperative during the summer, which is one reason that short hairdos are so popular during this time of the year. For those who prefer keeping their hair long, the go-to hairdo is oftentimes the simple ponytail. This look can get boring really quickly, so why not mix it up a little? Try out different quick updos such as low pigtails, flipped-through ponytails, or putting your hair up in a twist! For more elegant occasions, consider a messy bun, a low chignon, or even braids. Braids can be as simple as a classic French braid, or edgy with styles such as the herringbone braid, the tiara braid, or even a braided bun!  Jazz updos up with clips, hair ties or even fresh flowers!

4. Mix and Match Cover-ups

When going from beach to party, or from park to event, cover-ups can be your next best friend. These light accessories can be readily thrown on over a sleeveless top or a pair of shorts, readily taking your look a step up from casual. Apart from the de rigeur colorful beach sarong, try other cover-ups such as wraparound skirts, large infinity scarves, caftan tops, wide leg beach pants or even wrap dresses! Mixing and matching swimsuits with different styles and hues of cover-up can give you a variety of looks for beach events, thus freeing up some luggage space for your travels.

Summer is a season of airy fabrics, varied textures, and bright hues that can all be used to your advantage to create a wide range of stylish looks. It is a matter of mixing and matching to find a combination that expresses your preferences and personality, while still putting a priority on comfort. We wish you luck with putting together your own unique summer looks that will be tres magnifique!
