It’s no surprise to realize that people are living less healthy lives today. With all the conveniences of modern life, as well as the accompanying stress of so many demands upon us, Filipinos are not as healthy as they used to be.

The Philam Vitality Program recently launched the Philam Vitality Active App. It’s a simple app that is designed to reward users for every personal health goal that they achieve.
It’s available for both iOS and Android.
USING THE PHILAM VITALITY ACTIVE APP IS FREE! You don’t have to spend anything to join, and you can even get rewards!
First, the app will ask you to answer a simple questionnaire about your health habits so that it can compute your Philam Vitality Age. You will then be given weekly challenges. To start, the challenge is to walk 7500 steps per day, and be active for at least 30 minutes, to earn 50 points. It’s 12500 steps to earn 150 points. There is no in-between.
You can connect your fitness gadgets to the Philam Vitality Active app. The app supports:
- S Health
You earn points when you reach your daily goals, and those points go on to be counted for your weekly goal. When you hit your weekly goals for TWO CONSECUTIVE WEEKS, you get rewards!
The rewards you can claim include free passes to SM Cinema, SM Ice Skating, SM Bowling, Blink, Exploreum, Globe prepaid and postpaid credits, even Grab vouchers, and more!
Don’t worry, I tried the app out for the last 2 weeks and I’ll show you step by step below how to use the app!

HOW TO USE THE PHILAM VITALITY ACTIVE APP
Since I didn’t have any of the fitness trackers listed above, I downloaded S Health to my Android phone. Note: It doesn’t matter what goal you set on S Health. The Philam Vitality Active app will use its own targets, currently 7500 daily steps and 30 active minutes per day.
I also downloaded the Philam Vitality Active App, followed the steps to sign up, put in one of the promo codes, and answered a short questionnaire to determine my Philam Vitality Age.
The Philam Vitality Active App is simple and straightforward to use, but you need to familiarize yourself with the buttons and where they lead.
This is the home page for the app. It shows how many points you have left to earn to reach your weekly goal. You can easily go back to the home screen by tapping the Home button (the maroon V button in the middle).
Just tap on the different buttons to go to the other pages in the app.

S Health tracks my daily steps:
S Health is able to track my steps even when my phone is just inside my bag while I’m walking!
Whenever I reach my daily goals, I get a notification on the Philam Vitality Active app that I have earned points for that day! Make sure to sync your fitness tracker to the Philam Vitality Active app before the end of the week. I just made sure to sync mine every day after I achieved my daily targets. Note: sometimes the notification arrives quickly, sometimes, it can take until the following day to update.
I reached my first week goal and earned my first badge!
I finally unlocked the Rewards after I reached my goal for the second consecutive week!

PHILAM VITALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE
I did encounter a few minor hiccups while using the app. My Vitality app just did not sync properly for some reason one time, and the points I earned that day were not credited. However, a quick email to [email protected] with clear information about what happened, with relevant screenshots and my account details, and the matter was resolved very quickly! They responded to my email within 24 hours.
Note: the Philam Vitality Active app does not allow screenshots, so I had to take pictures with another camera.
The Philam Vitality Active App is free, easy to use, encourages you to be more active, AND rewards you! What’s not to love? Personally, I find that it makes me more conscious about being active during the day. Even a simple thing such as walking 7500 steps a day is not as easy to achieve when you’re just working at home, sitting at a desk the whole day. Since I want to reach my daily goals, I make an effort to go out and take a walk. You might think that 7500 steps is difficult, but when I’m malling, even 10,000 steps is a breeze to achieve! You really just have to make the effort to get off your butt and walk. And the Philam Vitality Active app pushes me to be more active not just out of my own intrinsic motivation, but because it’s providing me some extrinsic rewards as well! It’s so good at training me that it’s become a habit already.
