Cheapest Unlimited Fiber Internet at P1,500 per Month

Converge ICT Fiber

One of my sister’s friends just told us all about her current ISP. She is using a new ISP called Converge ICT, she has a fiber connection, and she’s only paying P1,500 per month!

She has used that ISP and has been on that plan for a year already, and so far she is very satisfied with the service. She lives in Mandaluyong.

Of course we were curious. We have been waiting for PLDT to make Fibr available in our area for a long time, and here’s a competitor offering a much cheaper option and someone we know is telling us that she is very satisfied with the service.

CHEAPEST UNLIMITED FIBER INTERNET PLAN SO FAR

Checking the Converge website, they offer 3 plans for home users:

PLAN BURSTABLE SPEED VOLUME ALLOWANCE
FIBERX 1500 Up to 20 Mbps Unlimited
FIBERX 2500 Up to 50 Mbps Unlimited
FIBERX 3500 Up to 100 Mbps Unlimited

I am interested in the 1500 plan that has unlimited volume, and speeds of up to 20 Mbps. The closest plan from PLDT Fibr costs P1899, and also has unlimited volume and speeds of up to 20 Mbps. That’s a P400 difference every month!

PLDT Fibr has a cheaper unli plan at 1699 per month, but they only give speeds up to 5 Mbps, and that’s still more expensive than Converge’s P1500. As for the PLDT Fibr plans with the volume allowance “cap”, forget about it – it’s not even worth considering for a household with at least 2-4 people actively using the internet watching Netflix, downloading stuff, playing games, watching YouTube.

The Converge FiberX plans have an installation fee of P2,500 and a lock-in period of 24 months.

AM I SWITCHING TO CONVERGE?

We want to, but I’m a bit hesitant because I don’t want to be imprisoned by another lock-in period.

Also, I am afraid that if I switch, and the service doesn’t meet expectations, that I might end up wanting to go back to PLDT, but I won’t be able to because they might have given my PLDT DSL connection to someone else. Apparently, there is a scarcity of PLDT DSL connections, and many people applying for PLDT DSL can’t get one until another connection is freed up. At least, that’s what I’ve heard.

PLDT is the devil I know. Well, they’re not really a devil, I mean, so far, I’m happy with my DSL service. P999 for speeds up to 5 Mbps, unlimited volume. Converge’s Fiber plan sounds like such a better deal, but… for now, I’m still on the fence. Losing reliable internet service is a big hassle and I’m scared to jump and trust an unknown. Better stick with what you know and all that…

However, I consider this as my “back-up plan”. If ever something happens that pushes me to look for a better ISP, Converge ICT’s FiberX 1500 plan is on the top of the list.

SHOULD YOU GET CONVERGE FIBER INTERNET?

If you have been wanting to get a DSL or Fiber broadband internet plan for your home but PLDT just doesn’t have the capacity to accommodate you, what have you got to lose by trying Converge?

Converge’s plans sound good in theory, so much better than making do with a pocket wifi. I also checked their Facebook page, and for the most part, I didn’t see too many complaints. Oddly enough, I also read some comments praising Converge ICT for fast service. This is a stark contrast to the hate and anger-filled Facebook pages of other ISPs.

If you have been looking for an internet connection for your home, why don’t you check this out? My only complaint while I was trying to call Converge to ask more about their plans is the very long wait time on the phone! I think I was on queue for at least 30 minutes or more “waiting for the next available representative to assist me shortly” and I gave up on all the 3 calls I made so I never actually got to talk to anyone.

Are you using Converge ICT? How was your experience? We’d love to know!

  1. My friend has been using this for more than a year. The speed is consistent. They have a 100mbps connection and they are getting around 90-95mbps whenever we run a speed test. So far the only problem is that there is no phoneline and it is bad for gamers who play multiplayer gamesike LOL or DOTA2.

    • Thanks for your comment, Tom 🙂 yeah, that’s what I also heard recently from my boyfriend. One of his colleagues uses Converge and the feedback is that it’s not great for gaming, but otherwise, the speed is good. Just really not for gaming.

  2. Hi, anyone here knows how to file a complaint against converge ict sol.? I signed up for the Home internet service with cable for $1299 per month plan and since it got installed on Oct 25, it didn’t work as it should be, the modem restarts by itself and I have reported it to converge on Nov 21, they sent the technician on Nov 22, the technician advised me that there is a problem with the cabling outside, there is some port that is not connected properly and that affects the signal coming in to the line. The technician went back on Nov 23 and said to monitor the service, however my service is still not working properly. Themodem still restarting by itself. No changes and nothing has fixed yet. I received the bill and it’s due on Dec. 5 for Ph1598 which is my very first bill for this company and I am not happy paying this amount of bill for the service that I didn’t get. I really help on how to report this issue to NTC. I tried it before with Globe but it’s hard to find the link to report it to NTC. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks guys – Andy
