Last Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, Alaska Crema All-Purpose Cream held the 2015 Alaska Merry Cremas Festival at the Trinoma Activity Center. Alaska Merry Cremas Festival is held every year around this time. Entrance is free.
Look at how many booths there are! This is my first time to attend the Alaska Merry Cremas Festival, and I was so excited to see the different creative ways the merchants used Alaska Crema All-Purpose Cream to create delicious dishes!
I really liked that most of the booths had both sweet and savory dishes for visitors to enjoy. The merchants even had the recipes of their featured dishes on display! This means, if you liked what you tried, you can cook it at home yourself!
Going to the Alaska Merry Cremas Festival gave me so many ideas of what to prepare for Christmas!
My favorite out of all the ones I was able to try was this taco from Homecooked Goodness. It was like a taco shawarma! It was so good that I couldn’t wait to try it when I got home! I couldn’t believe the garlic “shawarma” sauce was that easy! Using Alaska Crema All-Purpose Cream made the garlic sauce creamy and not cloying. I always thought that this sauce should be made with some mayonnaise, which always made it a bit cloying (nakakaumay) for me; but using Alaska Crema All-Purpose Cream, it was yummy and creamy and not oily.

I was really inspired to cook this at home. Even without the tortillas, french fries or black beans, it ended up really delish! I ended up doing an assemble-your-own taco/shawarma salad – I prepared some shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, cheese, and roughly chopped cilantro leaves, and cooked the ground beef with lots of ground cumin (around 2 tablespoons for half a kilo of ground beef). For the garlic sauce, I used half the contents of a brick of Alaska Crema All-Purpose Cream, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, salt & pepper to taste. That’s it! Raves from everyone in the family! Even the seniors had fun assembling their own shawarma salad. This recipe has now made it into our family’s list of dishes to cook often.
I also like it because it is healthy. Haha, at least, I consider it healthier than what some of my family members like to eat. This taco/shawarma with Alaska Crema All-Purpose Cream garlic sauce features a lot of raw vegetables – lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro (wansoy). Cilantro is known to help the body detox heavy minerals, so I try to include it in our meals as much as I can. Looking and tasting like shawarma, my family eats this, when they would normally ignore other leafy salads.

For sweets, I also liked this Yema Cake from Cyan Fab Gift Collection. The cake was soft and soaked up the sweet, delicious yema sauce.

This Vanilla Crepe Cake with Salted Caramel Sauce was also delicious and creamy!
