Last week, I was invited to watch an exclusive performance of the Origen Flamenco Show. The show was held at the Power Mac Center Spotlight at Circuit Makati. The dance group hails from Spain, and was brought here to the Philippines by Dona Elena, the leading brand of Mediterranean products in the country.
It was my first time to watch flamenco in person, and the intensity is so much more real than what we see on TV or in the movies! Flamenco is a dance and music tradition of Southern Spain, especially in Andalusia. It is a fiery and emotional performance.
The stars of the show are, of course, the flamenco dancers Cristina Carrasco and Javier Serrano, who gave powerful and passionate performances.
They moved so fast! Those feet!
But let’s not forget the band, who played the music and set the mood. The music ranged from soul-baring to intense and lively.
The performance was inspired by the music of legendary Paco de Lucia, a Spanish virtuoso flamenco guitarist, composer and producer, and was directed by Alberto Marin.
Before the show started, we enjoyed some tapas made with Dona Elena’s products like olive oils, olives, capers, pastas and anchovies, among others. Dona Elena has expanded its product line with more Spanish products, a truly fitting pair with the Spanish art of flamenco. And here I thought they only had olive oil!
It was an unforgettable night! The dancers and the music were mesmerizing. I truly enjoyed the show!
Dona Elena products are exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Fly Ace Corporation. For more tips, recipes, and promos, you may visit @donaelenacuisineraclub on Facebook and Instagram.
