Cheapest Legit Internet 1GB for P70 – Smart Big Bytes 70

Spread the Love!

Smart Big Bytes 70 Featured Image

Okay, everyone has been complaining about Surfmax. Not that I blame them. But this mobile internet “crisis” has made people look for alternatives, and I just heard of this legit mobile internet promo from Smart.

This is apparently Smart’s counter to Globe’s popular Gotscombodd70.

Smart’s Big Bytes 70:

  • 1 GB open access volume
  • no text 1,000 texts to Smart/TNT/Sun
  • 300 MB of Entertainment Bundle Hero Innovations (iflix, Fox, Spinnr)
  • Good for 7 days
  • Can be used for tethering
  • At the moment, it is only available for Smart Prepaid and Smart Bro Prepaid
  • Not available for Smart Postpaid (according to Smart Hotline rep)

This is a legit promo!

I called the Smart Hotline to ask about it and received this text message:

Smart Big Bytes 70 Text

I also checked their Facebook page:

Smart Big Bytes 70

From Smart’s Facebook page:

Smart Communications, Inc. Hello. Our Big Bytes 70 provides our subscribers with 1 GB open access volume and 300 MB of Entertainment Bundle Hero Innovations (iflix, Fox, & Spinnr). Hope this clarifies things. Thanks.

Smart Communications, Inc. Yes, our Big Bytes can be used for tethering. To register to our Big Bytes 70, simply text BIG70 to 9999. Thank you.

Smart Communications, Inc. Using your SMART SIM, go to SMART MENU > Buddy Balance/Prepaid Balance to receive your balance information via text. Thanks!

This is definitely a legitimate promo. It’s not a bug or something like that, and there’s no need to keep it secret for fear of it being “discovered”.

This promo is obviously offered to counter the popular Globe Gotscombodd70. The only difference is, this Smart offer doesn’t include any free text, unlike the Globe promo; this promo also includes 1,000 texts to Smart, Talk n Text, and Sun; and you also get the 300 MB entertainment bundle.

TO REGISTER, just text BIG70 to 9999.

BIG BYTES PROMOS ARE STACKABLE

I haven’t tried it yet since I am still subscribed to another 30-day Big Bytes promo, but one thing good is that these Big Bytes promos are stackable! Just subscribe to another Big Bytes promo BEFORE your current promo expires, and any unused data will be carried over to your new promo.

What I usually do is I subscribe to a Big Bytes 299 promo for 1 month and get 1.7 GB. Since I have DSL at home, I don’t usually use up my 1.7GB… so the next month, before it expires, I subscribe to a Big Bytes 99 (200 MB) and get a lot of unused data carried over. I keep on doing that until I almost use up my data, and then subscribe to a Big Bytes 299 again to “refill” my data. Now I think I might add this Big Bytes 70 into the mix!

If you think about it, for the Big Bytes 299, each GB costs P176.00 (although it lasts 30 days).

For the Big Bytes 70, each GB only costs P70! But only lasts 7 days. But if you do this every week, it still ends up being the most value for money, only costing P280 for 4 GB of data for a month.

Which promo should you get – Smart Big Bytes 70 or Globe Gotscombodd70?

It really depends on which telco has better signal in your area, and which provides the faster internet in your area, based on your experience. So just pick the one (Smart or Globe) which has given you better internet service in the past, based on your experience.

To get the best results, if you are subscribed to anything like Smart’s Powerapp, make sure to turn it off. Turn off your data, then turn it on again.

Note July 9, 2016: Some readers have been saying that the mobile data from Big Bytes 70 is problematic lately, FYI. Also, I have not seen  Big Bytes 70 listed on any official Smart list of promos anymore for several months now. Not sure if they are already phasing it out.

Have you used Big Bytes 70? How was your experience? Please share in the comments! 🙂

  1. Hi Ms Barat! 🙂 I got curious and tried BIG BYTES 70 just now and the confirmation text showed:

1000MB of data, 1000 texts to SMART, TNT, and SUN plus FREE 300MB for FOX, iFlix, and Spinnr.

So we verified that there are tons of SMS pala 😉 worth na rin our 70. hihi..

  2. Thanks for sharing this new promo code and sharing the tip about “refilling” before the promo we sign up for expires. There are so many promo codes — some publicized and some not — and it really takes extra time to monitor the usage and uncover new codes.

I’ve been using the BigBytes 299 and so far, I’ve just been using 700MB monthly. As I get close to the expiration of my promo plan, I burn off the extra MBs by random downloads. This “refill” tip is helpful!

Keep up the great work! Thanks!

    • Hi Everyoga 🙂 Thank you for your comment! It’s so nice to know that what I do is being appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to comment 🙂

  3. Hi! how about the SURFMAX250 to 9999? Is it good? I mean good value for money? Shall I get 800MB per day for 1 month? Is there any cap per month?

    Thanks to hear from you
    Sandy

    • Hi Sandy,
Surfmax has a limit of 800 MB per day, but no monthly limit that I know of. In terms of value for money, no, it’s not. The problem is, we don’t have many any other choices unless we want to pay regular rates.

      • Hi Barat Queen.
I’m confused and I have to clarify this before I register for the promo. Regarding the BiG Bytes 299, is the 1GB limit per day as well? Is it the same limiting process like their previous surfmax promos?

  4. Hi miss barat… what if kung mag register aq ng big70 tapos the next day register ulet.. Diba magdadagdag yon ng another 1gb.. Paano yun expiration day non..? Magdadagdag din kaya yon ng another 7 days..? Tnx

  5. Hi Jerry, it depends on a lot of factors – I generally get 3-8 Mbps speed in my area. It varies with the time of day, too 🙁 Speed is usually better late at night than during day time. Smart’s mobile internet has left me scratching my head sometimes – most recently, we were driving around Paco near Unilever area and totally could not get internet at all even if H+ signal seemed to be strong, so I don’t think it was a dead zone. The other time this happened, we were near Dimasalang in QC. We got back online after a few hours when we got home, but Smart does have these hiccups.

Since Surfmax is LTE-capable, I’m betting Big Bytes also is: “All Surf Max loads are 3G, 4G and LTE capable, where available.”

  6. Is this BigBytes promo really capable of getting LTE signal to use for browsing? In my experience, I don’t get LTE signal (area has LTE signal) even after registering to BIG70 or any other BigBytes promo variant.

And yes, Smart’s BigBytes has a lot of hiccups during browsing. There are times that I can’t even browse internet even if H+ has full signal bars. As for speed, I get an average of 1-4 Mbps in Eastwood, QC.. the highest is around 13 Mbps. Not bad though.

One more bad thing I noticed is their 300 MB Entertainment Bundle for iflix/spinnr/fox use. Most of the time, you can’t use the dedicated MB for that since it will be deducted from your 1 GB open access MB.

    • I just got a new phone and have an LTE ready SIM card. LTE showed up initially upon inserting the SIM but when I registered with Big Bytes 70, I’m getting only until 3G even when I’m in an LTE covered area. Would the problem be with my phone or with the promo?

  7. Jek, no it doesn’t work that way. Let’s say that I got the Big Bytes 70 today (Saturday). It would give me 1gb and last a week. If I registered again right away, or after a few minutes or whenever, I would get the additional 1gb, but the expiration date for the 2gb would be a week after the newest registration. That would still be Saturday of next week. So, in order to maximize your money, if you have data leftover and are nearing the expiration of your Big Bytes 70 registration, you should register again before it expires so the data is carried over. This is how the GoSakto 70 peso alternative works as well.

  8. In search for cheap internet promo brought me here. This entry is really a good alternative and very very cheap considering the data allocation that goes with it. Tried it just now and so far so good and worth the money. Is it really offered until this end of month only? Too bad. 🙁

Thanks anyways. You’ve earned 1 follower here and surely i’ll visit your page more often.

    Smile! 🙂

  9. Has anyone tried registering to bigbyte 70 to avail 1 gig data for a week, then a day before the expiration, registered bigbytes99 to add another 200mb data (plus the remaining data)? will it stack the unused data to the new bigbyte99 data?
by doing this one can stack 1.2 gig mobile data for a month and will only spend around 170php a month.

I need a confirmation on this one. Thank you

  10. how can i consume the big byte entertainment?its stacking up,i have 8gb of it. do i just download iflix, spnnr or fox?won’t it consume my regular data?

    • Hi mr. sweets,

Yes, just download those apps. I used mine to watch iflix. However, depending on the shows, 1GB is about enough for 2-3 episodes only, so don’t expect your 8GB to last watching an entire season.

Also, just make sure that you don’t have any extra load on your account. When my entertainment data was used up, it started using my regular load. Good thing I only had maybe P20 or so. I’m not sure if you receive a text notification, I was using my pocket wifi so I was not able to receive any text notice. Also not sure if you can use Load Protect to prevent it from using up your regular load.

      Good luck! 🙂

      • Once on my laptop with pocket wifi, iflix ate up my regular data without touching my entertainment bundle. Now on my phone, apps use up my entertainment bundle without touching the regular data. The first was bad because I couldn’t connect without regular data, even to iflix. The second might be good if I can still use the regular data after the entertainment bundle is gone (big bytes 50, total 950 MB).

        • Hi Zaq, it’s probably a system bug. Have you tried calling Smart customer service about it?

I experienced a similar thing with my Mega 250 that includes 100 MB of data. However, every time I use facebook, I get charged facebook data usage, even if my 100 MB data is not yet used up. I called customer service and they reverse the charges (I use a postpaid line). I don’t know how they will deal with it using prepaid, though.

        • Once you share your mobile connection thru wifi, either thru pocket wifi or tethering, the carrier wouldn’t know what application you are using the data for as it is being broadcast thru wifi. But if using directly on your phone, it is able to distinguish between spotify and other apps, such as facebook, etc, and will not use your regular data. This is just how i observed it and i think is probably the best explanation for your situation.

  11. I have a question though, can the data be used in apps such as wechat, line, snapchat, etc.? Or is it only limited to browsing with chrome for example? 🙂

    • You can use it for all those apps 🙂 that is the advantage of getting the per GB promos instead of those FB or Instagram apps only promos.

  12. Hi, I’ve been using big70 for almost a month now and it works well for me. What I usually do is register again before the 7days expire so that the remaining Mb and text would be added to my new registration. However, mejo nanghihinayang aq sa texts since I only use my smartbro for internet only. Is there a way para i-share or i-pass ung free texts to another number?

    • I’ve been on the lookout for something that would enable me to transfer those free texts to another number, too. So far, sayang nalang talaga yung 1,000 free texts, I am not able to use them.

However, YOU CAN USE THE FREE TEXTS even when your SIM card is in your pocket wifi. Your pocket wifi should have a router page (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.8.1 while connected to your pocket wifi network), and it usually has an SMS feature where you can read and send SMS. It’s not ideal, but in an emergency or when you are too lazy to reach for your phone, you can just text people from there 🙂

  13. Hi Ms Barat Queen. Thanks for this post. I accidentally discovered this BIG 70 a while back and i saw your page after searching for BIG BYTES 70 in Google bec I can’t find it in Smart’s prepaid big bytes page anymore.

My promo will not expire until the 9th of FEB so i’m not sure if the promo is still available by then. What do you think?

    Thanks!

    • Hi, sorry for the late reply. I think Big Bytes 70 is available until further notice 🙂 however, it is only for prepaid.

  15. Hi Ms. Barat Queen,

Good day! would like to confirm kung may working unlisurf plan for Smart or SmartBro ngayon taon?

would be a big help for us na walang DSL.

    Thank you

  16. I’ve been using the gotscombo for how many months now..everytime I register to the promo, i always got FREE facebook data..so my 1GB data will not be used when I browse and watch videos in facebook..thats an advantage of gotscombo compare to this big bytes

  17. Is this still available? My mom’s sim can’t register. I mean nakapag register naman sya kaso there’s no confirmation na registered na sya. And pag ngchecheck sya ng balance same load pa din sya. So basically di makaregister yung sim nya pero nasesend naman. Thanks! Hope u xan answer me asap. ?

    • Hi Diane Erika,

Yes, this promo is still available. I just registered to Big Bytes 70 yesterday. I am using a Smart prepaid SIM. It doesn’t work on my Smart postpaid SIM.

Have you tried registering using another Smart prepaid sim? Maybe your mom’s SIM is an old SIM or a different kind of SIM from the regular Smart prepaid. You can also call Smart customer service to check why your mom’s sim can’t register 🙂

  18. Hi! Pano iconsume yung Free Entertainment MB kasi every time na nag-YouTube ako yung data ang nabawasan.

    Thanks

  19. how about the entertainment data, ma fill up din ba pg ngregister at tatagal din ba ung expiration based s bgong registration?

    • No, I don’t think so. On my Smart Freedom Plan, I am using Mega250. I ran out of data so I subscribed to the Big Bytes 99. The expiration dates are different. When I check status, I get a status for my Big Bytes 99 and another status for my Mega250, both with different expiration dates and different remaining data info.

Smart uses up my Big Bytes 99 data first, and once it’s gone, that’s the only time it starts to use up the data from my Mega 250. I get text notices from Smart that my Big Bytes data is about to be used up.

  20. You’re excited as if Smart is doing you a huge favor.
1.7 GB for 7 days is still crap, just like the rest of their promos. Things do not change in the Philippines because people here are easily pleased with scraps off the table. Smart, Globe and Sun will always offer crumbs because they know people with accept them. Unbelievable. SMH

    • Have you not read all the complaints on the comments in the other posts? Nobody is thrilled about the current state of affairs. We’re all just trying to make the best of what we can get. Yes, things need to improve. What’s your alternative to effect a positive change?

      • Well Barat, here’s an idea. Have you ever heard of boycotting a business? Ever heard of protesting (peacefully) at their main office? Strength in numbers!

If not, then keep “trying to make the best of what can get” and nothing more. Smart, Globe, Sun, etc. will thank you for it. Their business model will continue status quo, zero pressure for them and you (we) will continue accepting sub par goods and services.

        • got your thought there..
yes..it’s just bunch of craps out there(here)..
it’s september and still..seems like nothing has improved.
They said that they “upgraded” the system..but i can’t seem to notice it.
Only the logo has changed.. but the service? stuck to the status quo ante.

  24. Share ko lang tong experience ko sis. Kahapon nagpaload ako ng bigbytes70. Sobrang bagal ng connection. Tapos ngayon nakakatanggap ako ng repeated spam sa inbox ng cp ko na “your bigbytes70 has expired” and I was like WTF? 8 times na dumadating yung same message na yun.

  27. barat queen hope you can answer my question since i might reload later today… i have tried stacking the mb’s and it works , but what if i do the promo the other way around? … currently im subscribed to bb99 and still have 300mb data, 1.5gb entertainment expires May 1st but what if i register to bb70 today ? would it still keep the May 1st expiration or move the exp date closer? thanks

  28. Hi how to STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE the PROMO, so that I can register to other promo like SURFMAX.
When I tried registering SURFMAX, it says Sorry your account is not allowed to avail of this service.

  29. If i register to big99 before my big70 expire, does my remaining data allocation on big70 extend its we xpiration for another 30 days?

    • freedom user here. i tried to subsribe to BigBytes 50 the first time – it worked, the second time, it mentioned that i’m still subscribed to a current Mobile Internet Package, adding that I can register once my current promo ended. Next, I tried registering to BIG299, still the same message

    • Hello. Unfortunately, postpaid subscribers cannot stack up big bytes anymore 🙁 You have to wait for the big bytes promo to end or you can subscribe to a different big bytes promo. Hassle nga. If you are subscribed to a 30 day big bytes and you already used up your data in 10 days, you still have to wait for another 20 days before you are allowed to subscribe to the same big bytes promo. 🙁

Prepaid users can still stack up big bytes.

  30. I notice SMART has a new BIG50 (700Mb / 3 days). In terms of price-efficiency, this seems to be almost equivalent to the BIG70 (1Gb / 7days). Except that BIG70 lasts 7 days.

Just got a SMARTBro prepaid SIM and am not yet familiar with Smart’s Data Stack feature (description: “Before your load expires, get another Big Bytes package to add up their data MB, and all will follow the longest validity”)

Was wondering if anyone knows how the Data Stack feature works? Eg. register to Big50 @ 700Mb, then register another Big50 (before 1st Big50 expires) to add another 700Mb, will the validity be 3+3 days or it just extends the validity by another 3 days from when the second BIG50 was registered?

    • It just extends the validity by another 3 days from when the second BIG50 was registered.

The stacking only works for prepaid only. Can’t do it anymore on postpaid 🙁

Yeah, I saw the new Big 50 also, but its a hassle to keep registering every 3 days. I’ll probably only use it when I’m going to be out for a weekend or something and forsee heavier mobile internet usage.

Right now I’m using the Saktodata99 promo – 500 MB for 30 days with 70 minutes of Smart calls.

  31. hi po, question po nagregister po ako sa bigbyte99 kaso ubus na ung 200mb data pero ung youtube, iflix and etc is 454mb pa, eh gusto ko na sana mag Saktodata99 kaso not available daw, maybe im still register sa bigbytes99 or hindi pede sa pocketwifi un? hope u can help me. thanks

    • Hi Dart, are you using prepaid or postpaid? For postpaid, some people have told me their experiences na dapat daw matapos muna yung bb99 bago maka register ulit ng ibang big bytes 🙁 also, as far as I know, for now, sakto data is only for smart prepaid.

  32. Hi, Im having a smart prepaid simcard for my pocket wifi can i surf using big bytes? or it is for smartphones only?

    • Hi Sheena, it should work for both smartphones and pocket wifis. I’ve tried both, working naman pareho ang big bytes. As for BB70, mukhang phased out na ata.

  33. This is BS smart needs to revive unlisurf, what i did is keep buying kickstart sim P59 and look for sari2x store who has unlisurf then load P50 for a day then enjoy my unlimited data for the whole day i said keep buying coz smart being an smarta** keeps on blocking my sim after it expires.smart is an AH.

  34. Is it a fact that Surfmaxzplus promos are the only LTE-promos so that in fact the MB/GB provided in Big promos will only be distributed at maximum 3G speeds and therefore iFlix and Youtube data volume will be almost impossible to consume?

  35. Guys, pwede ako magtanong?

I am a GLOBE SUBSCRIBER. So I am using the GOTCOMBODD70 promo from Globe.

I wanna try SMART LTE SIM and this promo since pareho lang sila ng sa globe.

Any feedback from concerned member, kindly give your feedback here. Thanks in advance and God bless…

  36. Help po. I registered for big50 right after nagexpire ung unli10 ko. When i tried to open a video streaming site, di nako makaconnect. It kept bringing me to powerapp. i had to register sa boost5 para lang makaconnect. This is so annoying. I tried turning it off with powerapp off pero nd na talaga ako maka makaconnect sa kahit anong site. Even free fb. Sayang din yung big50 ko.Patulong naman po. I want to cancel powerApp if it’s possible. What to do? Thank you.

    • For those asking HOW TO TURN OFF POWER APP:

      From Smart’s website:

Yes, you may choose to discontinue your PowerApp subscription upon expiration of your package. Just text OFF POWERAPP to 5555 for Prepaid, TNT, Gold, Infinity / 7577 for All In / 9990 for Freedom

If you are having problems with not being able to use your purchased internet, check if POWERAPP is turned OFF. A lot of feedback with people saying this solved their problem. Hope that helps.

    • how did you use your data? nag video streaming ka ba? baka naubos mo na ung 1gb na data mo. malaki ang data na nacoconsume if nagsstream ka ng videos. but if hindi naman, maybe you should try calling customer service.

Currently, bumalik ako sa promo ng globe for my pocketwifi, can someone confirm if wala na yung BIG70 na 1GB data?

    • Hi, check your Powerapp also.

Just text OFF POWERAPP to 5555 for Prepaid, TNT, Gold, Infinity / 7577 for All In / 9990 for Freedom

  39. I didn’t know this existed. I registered to BIG70 and hindi ako napahiya. Globe’s service in my area sucks bigtime. Smart is way better here.

    • If you’re not using too much data, you can also check out Saktodata99. Thats the one I’ve been using lately, just haven’t had time to write about it. 99 pesos for 500 MB good for 30 days + 70 minutes of Smart calls. It’s okay na for me since I only use data whenever I am out of the house.

      • Hi stackable din ba ang mb kapag nagsimula ako sa big70 (7days) then itutuloy ko sa saktodata99(30days)?

      • Hi maiipon din ba ang mb kapag nagsimula ako sa big70 (7days) then itutuloy ko sa saktodata99(30days)?

      • Hi po example nag load aq ng big50 ng 3x pde po xa patungan ng saktodata99 para 1month xa valid. or ung bago ngaun gigasurf50 pde po b xa patungan ng saktodata99, na sstack po ba ung giga or bigbytes? Ask q din qng may big70 pa?

  40. T*nginang smart yan.

    • got your thought there..
yes..it’s just bunch of craps out there(here)..
it’s september and still..seems like nothing has improved.
They said that they “upgraded” the system..but i can’t seem to notice it.

Ayun tinry ko muna 1 day, pede nga. Then nag load ako 7 days. Unlisurf uli.. Pumasok! Try nyo.

  43. been using this big70 for a month now and seems good for me. ibe been averaging 9-10 pesos per day cost on load & 500-600 mb of data. what i do is load first big 70 good for 7 days then refill before expiration with big 15 every two days..just don’t let your load expires for data accumulation.

Kailangan po ba same promo? Salamat Barat Queen! More power!!

    • Hi Misis,

I’m sorry, I haven’t used Smart Big Bytes in a long time.

I’m using Globe Gotscombodd70 because it has better signal in the places I go to 🙂

It’s possible na talagang lumakas yung usage mo during that time, di natin alam.

If you are using an Android phone, you can use your phone to track the actual data usage and compare 🙂

    • wala pong kaso kung ano ang network nyo. same lang ang consumption since sa apps and usage mo yan. possible na dumami yung apps na ginagamit mo or background apps (consuming kahit closed, e.g. facebook, msgr, viber etc) or even na lumakas yung consumption ng apps mo. (updates, addtn’l features etc.)
      just to clarify.

  46. Hello po? If I subscribe to big bytes 70, can I use it po Kaya for video calls? And how long po Kaya bago maubos yung 1GB if mga less than 30 mins Lang kami nagkakausap and the same thing at night? Would it last po Kaya po 7 days? Thanks po.

  48. Hi Ms. Barat Queen just like to ask if you tried the BB70 (7 days) then extend it with SAKTODATA99 (30 days) it is working or it is separate promo?
