Beauty Faves and Fails

I’ve been decluttering my makeup collection, and before I gave all the duds away, I just wanted to share with you my beauty faves – what I think are worth the money, and which are not. I hope this will be able to help you with your future beauty purchases 🙂

You can watch the video here:

BEAUTY FAVES

Fashion 21 Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Copper – cheap and handy! Creamy eyebrow pencil that works, includes a very useful brush to blend the eyebrow pencil color.

L’Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit in 02 Light to Medium – cannot live without this! Makes my eyebrows last all day until night! The color is light enough so it doesn’t look too stark against my skin. I’ve been using this for a very long time and have hardly made a dent, I think it will last forever

Maybelline Hyper Curl Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara – cheap, everyday mascara that makes lashes pop! it lengthens my lashes and it doesn’t clump on me. Does not flake on me, either, even after wearing it the whole day.

IN2IT Pearl Powder Bricks in 02 Candy – can be used as a highlighter (using only the lighter strips), can also be used as a glowing, coral blush. Buildable shimmer but does not have glitter (a great thing!).

Clinique Blusher and Eyeshadow Duo (travel size; Eyeshadow Duo is Sunset Glow and Black Honey, the blush is Mocha Pink) – my sis gave this to me since she doesn’t do much makeup; current favorite for on-the-go / travel since it is small, but can create a neutral daytime eye look to a bolder night time look; eyeshadow longevity is good, pigmentation is good

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion – this is a classic; I use this for moisturizing my face during the day

Clinique Clarifying Lotion – I use this as a toner and I love it! It is strong, so it’s not for the faint of heart. But it gets in there and removes any remaining traces of dirt and makeup

KATE Tokyo Mousse BB – I have a sample size, but so far I am loving this mousse BB! It provides better coverage than my other foundations, but still looks natural and not cakey. Will repurchase this when I run out.

Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream – I’ve been using this for several years as my night time moisturizer. It works for me and leaves my skin well-hydrated and plump. However, this is often out of stock at local Etude House branches.

Etude House Drawing Eye Brow (Light Gray, #5) – it’s gray! It is so difficult to find an affordable eyebrow pencil that is not brown or black. When I am sporting dark or black hair, I think a gray eyebrow looks better than a black eyebrow, which can look very strong. This one also has a spoolie on the other end, so it’s also great for on the go or travel. Note: this is not included in the Etude House recall.

Etude House Curl Fix Mascara – this is a very good mascara and really makes it look like I have long, luscious lashes. I like the wand / brush, I find it makes it easy to apply the mascara. The mascara stays put! Does not flake. Wore it all day and night and it did not budge. But it is very, very difficult to remove. So I only use it for special occasions.

LOL Eyebrow Pencil (Blonde) – It’s taupe! Do you know how difficult it is to find an affordable taupe eyebrow pencil in the Philippines? Can be worn with black or ashy brown hair. Creamy and blendable.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

K-Palette Lasting 3 Way Eyebrow Pencil 1 Day Tattoo – good all-in-one eyebrow pencil for on-the-go – has eyebrow pencil, a spoolie, and a powder; Cons – it is used up very fast! It is the only eyebrow pencil that I felt was used up so quickly compared to my other eyebrow pencils

Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper – I really like the eyebrow pencil formula, the only reason it’s not included in my favorites is because it doesn’t include a spoolie. So if I bring this along on the go, I have to make sure that I have other products that have a spoolie brush.

Watsons Collagen Body Lotion – I actually use this to prevent cracked heels! It’s supposed to be a body lotion but it works wonders for my feet! This is a must-apply every night before sleep.

NEWLY PURCHASED / OPENED AND SO FAR, SO GOOD

These are the products I just started using and so far, I’m happy with them, but I haven’t used them enough to really say that they’re my favorites.

BYS Peach Palette – highly pigmented, good shades for this summer. Lasts me up to 8 hours before starting to crease (no eyelid primer).

L’Oreal True Match Blur Cream – creates a smooth surface for foundation to stick to; foundation lasts about 6 hours on me before it starts melting off

Pixi by Petra Flawless & Poreless Primer – still testing, but looking good

Tony Moly The Black Tea London Classic Emulsion – started using this last night and this morning, and so far I’m very happy with it. It hydrates my skin really well, my skin looks young and fresh.

Pink Sugar HD Cheeks Highlighter in Sin City – Easy to use highlighter that I use for a very light highlight effect when I don’t need dramatic highlight

PRODUCTS I WILL BE DECLUTTERING

These are the products that I did not like – for some, the products are not good – for others, the product may be good but they just don’t suit me.

Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette – the colors don’t show up on the skin, the pigmentation is very poor; eye looks turn muddy and all meld together into one color after several hours; will be giving this to a friend who is just starting her makeup journey, this is a good palette for those who just want simple eye looks with only 1-2 colors. This is not a good palette for doing looks with crease, outer V, etc…

Detail Makeover Duo Eye Pen – this is a great product application-wise. Application is very easy, the liquid liner brush and formula that never dries out is wonderful. However, the products just don’t stay put. After a few hours on my lids, the liner turns light gray and/or melts away. The eyebrow pencil is needs to be set with a powder, at least, for it to last.

Etude House Collagen Moistfull Emulsion – this is too thin for me and did not provide enough moisturizing that my skin needed

Flormar Illuminating Primer Make-up Base – my skin got very oily in 5 hours, I don’t think it helped my foundation to stay on

Shawill Two Way Eyebrow Cake – the powders are too dark for my liking, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, have glitter! I already got the lightest shades. However, the powders are very pigmented. But the glitter just gets all over the place.

I already gave a lot of the duds away last year, these are the ones I was still giving a chance to.
